Every year, on the third Saturday of May, the Selma HS MCJROTC assists the American Legion Selma Post-12 with their annual Flag Exchange Day.  This event encourages members of the community to bring any unserviceable US flags to be exchanged for a brand-new ones.  On 20 May 2023, over 300 flags were exchanged.  The unserviceable flags are collected and turned over to the local Boys Scouts so that they can ceremoniously and properly dispose of them.
