Sikh Parade

On Sunday, April 24, 2022, the annual Sikh parade took place here in Selma, CA. This multicultural community has a parade to honor a sacred day in their religion (Viaskhi). Since 1699, Sikhs have worshiped this day. It's been said that there are about 250 Sikh families in Selma alone. This information would make the Sikh people the third largest ethnic group in the city. The Sikh church has three different temples in Selma. On this day, Sikhs from all over the state come to participate in this parade, making it to almost 7,000 people walking down the streets, singing, and passing out snacks and treats to the people sitting outside their houses, enjoying the view. The massive parade makes its way through Selma in honor of the 553rd anniversary of their religion.
